Major therapeutic action
Expels Wind, relieves the Exterior, stops diarrhoea, stops bleeding.

Dosage
The typical proportion when added to a constitutional formula is 6:1 formula to addition (15 grams in 75- 90 grams of formula). If a stronger effect is desired more can be added. When used alone the dose is three grams twice daily.
Indications
o  Affection of Wind, Cold or Damp Evils.
o  Diarrhoea, dysentery, bloody stools, uterine bleeding or menorrhagia.
o  Onsets of carbuncles or other skin inflammation, urticaria.

Combinations
o  For bleeding, add Tian Qi, Yi Mu Cao etc. according to different TCM differentiation.
o  For diarrhoea due to Spleen qì deficiency, combine with Si Jun Zi Tang.
