Lonicera japonica & Forsythia suspensa

Jin Yin Hua	sweet, cold	clears Heat, resolves Toxin, dissolves boils disperses Evil, cools Blood, treats dysentery
Lian Qiao	bitter, mild cold	clears Heat, resolves Toxin, dissolves boils and masses, disperses Evil, clears the Heart, eliminates vexation

Indications
o Skin and external diseases, exterior Wind-Heat syndrome or initial stage of febrile diseases.
o Flu, tonsillitis, pharyngitis and other upper respiratory tract infections, lobar pneumonia, mastitis, hepatitis, cutaneous pyogenic infection.

Combined action
Clears Heat, resolves Toxin, dissolves boils.

Combinations
o For boils, furuncles and other skin diseases, combine with Wu Wei Xiao Du Yin and Shan Zhi Zi/Mu Dan Pi.
o For exterior Wind-Heat syndrome, combine with Sang Ju Yin.
o For pyogenic infection, add Hong Teng/Bai Jiang Cao.

Dosage
The typical proportion when added to a constitutional formula is 6:1 formula to addition (15 grams in 75- 90 grams of formula). If a stronger effect is desired more can be added. When used alone the dose is three grams twice daily.
