Spirodela polyrrhiza & Lithospermum erythrorhizon

 

 

Fu Ping

 acrid, cold expels colds with slight fever, promotes the 
expression of rashes, and promotes urination
Zi Cao sweet, cold cools, eliminates infection, 
eliminates  rashes, promotes urination

 
Indications
*  Skin diseases with inflammation and itch. Most useful for red raised maculopapular rashes, and other skin diseases with a feeling of heat and/or blood involvement.

Combined action
Expels infections, cools, benefits the skin.

Combinations
*  For premenstrual skin diseases, acne, rashes etc, combined with Xiao Yao San and Shan Zhi Zi & Mu
Dan Pi.
*  For severe skin rashes with heat and blood involvement, combined with Long Dan Zie Gan Tang.
*  With Zeng Ye Tang for chronic skin disorders with heat and possibly blood involvement.		 Dosage
The typical proportion when added to a constitutional formula is 6:1 formula to addition (15 grams in 75 - 90 grams of formula). If a stronger effect is desired more can be added. When used alone the dose is three grams twice daily.

Cautions and contraindications
None noted.
Contraindicated in dryness patterns with feelings of heat especially in the afternoon or in the palms or soles.
