Major therapeutic action
Clears heat and fluid accumulation, especially from the upper body.

Dosage
The typical proportion when added to a constitutional formula is 6:1 formula to addition (15 grams in 75-
90 grams of formula). If a stronger effect is desired more can be added. When used alone the dose is three
grams twice daily. |
Indications
* an important herb for a wide variety of fluid accumulation with heat patterns, especially those affecting
the heart and stomach. Typical symptoms include fever, irritability, mental disturbances, voracious appetite, mouth ulcers, halitosis and vomiting blood. also used for boils and sores.
* Small amounts can be used for lingering fluid accumulation with heat patterns when there is concurrent
weakness and lethargy. |
Cautions and contraindications
None noted.
Contraindicated in dryness patterns, diarrhoea and nausea with lethargy and weakness. |
