Indications
* Menopausal flushing and night sweats, bone steaming fevers, low grade or recurrent fevers of unknown
origin.
* Chronic irritation of the urethra (often described as ‘cystitis’), with discomfort and pain during urination. |

Clears heat, especially in weak or deficient individuals.

Combinations
* add to Liu Wei Di Huang Wan to create Zhi Bo Ba Wei Wan, the main formula for heat and dryness in a
deficient or weak individual causing night sweats, flushing, heat intolerance etc. Commonly used during
menopause. |
Dosage
The typical proportion when added to a constitutional formula is 6:1 formula to addition (15 grams in 75-
90 grams of formula). If a stronger effect is desired more can be added. When used alone the dose is three
grams twice daily. |
Cautions and contraindications
Care in patients with digestive weakness or cold in the interior.
