Bai Wei

Di Gu Pi

sweet, tasteless, cold removes deficiency Heat, clears Lung-Heat, cools Blood


Indications
*  Fever due to yin deficiency.
*  Cough and asthma due to Lung-Heat.
*  Bleeding due to Heat in the Blood, such as haematuria.

Combined action
Removes deficiency Heat, clears the Lung, cools Blood.

Combinations
*  For deficiency Heat, Bie Jia/Di Gu Pi/Qing Hao can be added.
*  For cough and asthma due to Lung-Heat, add Sang Bai Pi/Chen Pi.
Dosage
The typical proportion when added to a constitutional formula is 6:1 formula to addition (15 grams in 75- 90 grams of formula). If a stronger effect is desired more can be added. When used alone the dose is three grams twice daily.
