Run Chang Wan: a mild oily laxative for patterns without heat or fever.

Indications
* This formula is used for the constipation that often accompanies fluid depletion and dryness with slight
fever. also used in the aftermath of a febrile illness with lingering sweats, tidal fever, restlessness and
insomnia.
* Generalised gastrointestinal dryness that accompanies disorders such as Sjogren’s syndrome, and the oral
side effects of radiotherapy.
* With the appropriate key symptoms, this formula can be used to treat habitual constipation, the sequelae
of febrile illnesses, irritable bowel syndrome, and haemorrhoids. |

Combinations
* For chronic constipation with dry stools and low-grade fever, combine with Liu Wei Di Huang Wan.
* For restlessness, irritability, insomnia and sweats in the aftermath of a febrile illness, with Zhi Mu &
Huang Bo. |
Dosage
The typical proportion when added to a constitutional
formula is 6:1 formula to addition (15 grams in 75-90)
grams of formula). If a stronger effect is desired more
can be added. When used alone the dose is three
grams twice daily. |
Cautions and contraindications
Not suitable for long-term use if used alone.
Contraindicated during pregnancy. |
