Major therapeutic action
Clears heat, moistens the Lung, moistens the Intestine, antitussive, antifebrile, increases humoral immunity.

Dosage
The typical proportion when added to a constitutional formula is 6:1 formula to addition (15 grams in 75-
90) grams of formula). If a stronger effect is desired more can be added. When used alone the dose is three
grams twice daily. |
Indications
* Heat in the Lung with dry cough with scanty sputum.
* Signs of dryness such as thirst, dry mouth and throat.
* Constipation due to dryness in the Intestine with hard and dry stool.
* acute and chronic bronchitis, upper respiratory tract infection. |
Cautions and contraindications
Caution in patients with Cold deficient diarrhoea.
None noted. |
Combinations
* With Liu Wei Di Huang Wan or Tian Wang Bu Xin Dan for chronic dry deficient cough.
* With Zhi Sou San for post-febrile cough with signs of dryness. |
