Major therapeutic action
Tonify and warm the body’s warmth, expel fluid accumulation.

Dosage
The typical proportion when added to a constitutional formula is 6:1 formula to addition (15 grams in 75- 90 grams of formula). If a stronger effect is desired more can be added. When used alone the dose is three grams twice daily.

Indications
*  Patterns of cold in the body with weakness, lethargy, and a weak pulse where the main feature is cold intolerance and loss of reproductive function. A good pair for loss of libido, impotence, sperm disorders and infertility.
*  Chronic pain patterns associated with weakness and lethargy.

Cautions and contraindications
None noted.
Contraindicated alone in dryness patterns.

Combinations
*  With Liu Wei Di Huang Wan for infertility associated with cold especially during the progesterone phase of the menstrual cycle (measured according to the basal body temperature chart).
