Invigorates the blood and breaks up fixed stabbing pain; clears heat and calms the mind. |

Indications
* For a wide variety of patterns associated with a degree of fixed pain, especially those associated with heat
and/or mental disturbances. Much used for fixed pain patterns of the chest and stomach. Can hasten the
healing of fractures and traumatic injury. Can be added to any formula to address mild pain. |
Dosage
The typical proportion when added to a constitutional formula is 6:1 formula to addition (15 grams in 75-
90 grams of formula). If a stronger effect is desired more can be added. When used alone the dose is three
grams twice daily. |
Combinations
* For chronic hepatitis, combine with Xiao Chai Hu Tang and Wu Wei Zi. |
Possible interactions
May potentiate Coumarin (Warfarin sodium) and other anti-coagulant drug therapies. |
Cautions and contraindications
Caution in people who are taking anti-coagulant therapy (see below).
Contraindicated during pregnancy, before childbirth and before or immediately after surgery, and in
patients with bleeding disorders. |
