Chi Shao

Clears Heat, cools Blood, nourishes Blood, activates Blood, soothes the Liver, relieves pain.

Dosage
The typical proportion when added to a constitutional formula is 6:1 formula to addition (15 grams in 75- 90 grams of formula). If a stronger effect is desired more can be added. When used alone the dose is three grams twice daily.

Indications
*  Heat in the Blood: low fever.
*  Insufficient Body Fluid: dry mouth and tongue.
*  Red and painful eyes.
*  Chest pain and hypochondriac pain.

Combinations
*  For chest pain or hypochondriac pain, add Jin Ling Zi San.
*  Can be added to Zeng Ye Tan for dry mouth and tongue seen in insufficient Body Fluid.
