Antibacterial effect

Alkaloids contained in bo luo hui is the effective antibacterial effect. The decoction of bo luo hui had quite strong inhibitory effect on various Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial and leptospira.

Parasite-killing effect

bo luo hui had strong effect of killing trichomonas vaginalis.

Maggot-killing effect

Alkaloids contained in bo luo hui could kill maggot by exciting and then anaesthesizing.

Hepatic function and immunity improving

It's proved by animal experiments that bo luo hui had quite good immune enhancing effect, it could stimulating T and B cells. It also showed good hepatic function improving effect on acute liver injury induced by various drugs.

Anti-tumor effect

Alkaloids contained in bo luo hui had inhibitory effect on type KB, P38 and W256 tumor cells. Sanguinarine had weak anti Ehrlich carcinoma effect. In another experiment, total alkaloids of bo luo hui was proved to have obvious inhibitory effect on solid tumors on tumor bearing animals.

Other effects

Chelerythrine contained in bo luo hui had anti-tussive, anti-asthma and analgesic effects. Sanguinarine could increase cardiac activity, stimulate salivary secretions and had diuretic effect. Protopine and allocryptopine showed inhibitory effect on isolated heart of Guinea pigs. Protopine could contract uterine.

Trichomonal vaginitis, cervical erosion

bo luo hui suppository had good therapeutic effect on trichomonal vaginitis. It also had significant effect on cervical erosion.

Infectious diseases

Injections made from bo luo hui had quite good effect on lobar pneumonia and infantile pneumonia. It also had certain effect on chronic bronchitis and could relieve asthma. The formula containing bo luo hui also had significant therapeutic effect on hemorrhoids, felon, furuncle and carbuncles.

Tumors

Bo Luo Hui Injection had certain therapeutic effect on thyroid cancer, mixed tumor of parotid gland and cervical carcinoma.

Skin diseases

bo luo hui had definite effect on skin diseases such as ringworm of the feet, scabies and psoriasis, etc..
