Pharmacological actions |
Anti-pathogenic microorganism effect |
chuan xin lian had inhibitory effect on bacillus pyocyaneus, bacillus proteus, staphylococcus aureus, diplococcus pneumoniae, hemolytic streptococcus B, measles virus, influenza virus, shingles virus, Echo virus, tubercle bacillus, bacillus pertussis, leprae, and leptospira, etc.. |
Anti-myocardial ischemia and anti-arrhythmia effects |
chuan xin lian could alleviate the injury caused by re-perfusion after acute myocardial ischemia. Its total flavones had anti-arrhythmia effect. |
Anti-thrombus effect |
chuan xin lian extract could significantly inhibit the platelet aggregation induced by ADP and adrenalin (the influence was reversible); it also had obvious effect on platelet 5-HT release induced by ADP. |
Influence over body onload="highlight();" immune function |
Water decoction of chuan xin lian could increase the staphylococcus aureus phagocytosis effect of WBC in vitro. Its preparation could elevate the serum bacteriolysin level, and increase the phagocytosis effect of celiac macrophages and neutrophilic granulocytes. |
Anti-febrile and anti-inflammatory effects |
Andrographolide, deoxydandrographolide and other ingredients of chuan xin lian had atni-febrile and anti-inflammatory effects. |
Influence over the pitutary-adrenal cortex |
Andrographolide, deoxydandrographolide, 14-deoxy-11, 12-dideoxyhydro-andrographolide and neoandrographolide at large doses could induce the atrophy of thymus gland juvenile mice, which indicates that the could increase the functions of adrenal cortex. |
Effects on the central nervous system |
Yanning-3 and Chuan Hu Ning Injection had obvious sedative effect. |
Effects on the liver and gallbladder |
Andrographolide had significant protecting effect on the liver injury caused by CCl4, D-chondrosamine and acamol. It could significantly lower the concentration of SGOT, SGPT, SALP, SBRN and HTG, etc.. chuan xin lian was also a cholagogue. |
Anti-cancer effect |
chuan xin lian preparation at large, medium and small dosages all had inhibitory effect on the growth of tumor; the effect was dosage-dependen and stable. in vitro tests showed that chuan xin lian had inhibitory effect on cultured cancer 3H-TdR, which indicated that this herb may inhibit the synthsis of breast cancer cell. Dehydroandrograpolide succinate showed certain inhibitory effect on transplated W256 tumor. |
Anti-pregnancy effect |
chuan xin lian had significant pregnancy-ceasing effect. |
Others |
chuan xin lian had anti-snake venom effect.
