Decoction of Da Qing Ye has varying degrees of inhibitory effect on staphylococcus aureus, diplococcus pneumoniae, ¦Á-streptococcus, meningococcus, hemophilus Influenzae, typhoid bacillus, escherichia coli, shigella dysenteiae, bacilius diphtheriae, etc.. It can kill leptospira. Besides inhibiting HBsAg, Da Qing Ye has obvious inhibitory effect on influenza virus. Da Qing Ye also has antiendotoxin action.

Decoction of Da Qing Ye (Song Lan) has significant anti inflammatory action on experimental arthritis of mice caused by formaldehyde. It can also inhibit the inflammatory reaction of local skin in rabbits caused by dimethylbenzene.

Decoction of Da Qing Ye can significantly lower the body onload="highlight();" temperature of febrile rabbits caused by the mixture of the vaccines of cholera and typhoid. This action takes effects quickly and has little toxicity.

Decoction of Da Qing Ye can increase the phagocytosis of WBC over bacteria, and phagocytic index as well.

Decoction of Da Qing Ye ha s inhibitory effect on isolated heart of frog. and isolated intestine of rabbit. But it obviously excite the smooth muscle of uterus, it can increase the contraction and tensity of isolated uterus of cavy; this effect can persist quite long.

Da Qing Ye can promote the bile secretions and relieve the pain.

Da Qing Ye 30g was made into 100ml decoction, for infants younger than 1 years old, 10~20ml every time, 50ml for 1~5 years old, 80ml for 11~13 years old. Once every 4 hours, stop the administration 2~3 days after the fever was removed. 51 cases of encephalitis B were treated and the therapeutic effect was satisfactory.

Da Qing Ye along with Dan Shen, Yu Jin, Guan Zhong and Da Zao was used to treat 100 cases of acute nonicteric hepatitis. The effective rate was 94%.

Da Qing Ye, 30~45g every time for adults (3g for infants younger than 5 years old, 15~20g for 6~12 years old, 25~30g for over 12 years old) was decocted with water and taken orally, 4~8 times every day. 41 cases of leptospirosis were treated, most patients' body onload="highlight();" temperature returned to normal within 1~2 days, and the toxicity symptom disappeared too. 28 cases were markedly effective.

Formula: Da Qing Ye, Ban Lan Gen, Zi Cao Gen, Cao He Che, Shan Dou Gen, Bai Bu, 15g each; Guan Zhong, Yin Chen 10g each; Jie Geng, Gan Cao, 6g each. Add 500ml water to above drugs and decoct to 200ml juice (compound crude drug 6g in every 10ml juice). Take the juice orally once every 4~6 hours. Dosage for every time: 10ml for those younger than 1 year old, 15ml for 1~5 years, 20ml for 6~15 years, 25ml for adults. 45 cases of viral upper respiratory infections were treated, 40 were cured, 5 ineffective; among 10 cases of viral pneumonia, 9 were cured, 1 ineffective; among 42 cases of mumps, 40 were cured, 2 ineffective.

Da Qing Ye Decoction 10ml every time (equivalent to 30g crude drug), three times every day, 3~5 days in succession. 24 cases of influenza were treated, 9 cases' body onload="highlight();" temperature returned to normal within 1 day, the other 15 cases were cured within 2~6 days.

Compound Da Qing Ye Injection was applied to the affected area gently, 3~4 times every day. 45 cases of herpes simplex were treated, 26 cases were cured within 2~3 day, 14 cases within 4~5 days, 5 cases within 6~7 days.

Compound Da Qing Ye Mixture 10ml, taken orally, 3 times every day; the liquid was also applied to the skin lesions at the same time, twice daily. 143 cases of flat wart were treated, 106 were cured, 11 markedly effective, 16 effective, 10 ineffective.

45g dried Da Qing Ye was decocted with water and taken orally at a draught, or decoction of 90g Da Qing Ye taken in two times. Stop the administration 1~2 days after the patients were cured. 300 cases of acute or chronic bacillary dysentery and gastroenteritis were treated, and satisfactory effect was obtained.

Da Qing Ye 90g was decocted and taken orally in three times every day; or Da Qing Ye 30g, plus Xuan Hu, Mu Xiang, Xiang Fu, Chi Shao, 10g each were made into decoction and orally taken. 13 cases of acute appendicitis were treated, all were effective. In the most patients, within 2~6 days, the pain and tenderness disappeared, WBC count and body onload="highlight();" temperature returned to normal.

Compound Da Qing Ye Injection 4ml was mixed with dexamethasone 2.5mg for intramuscular injection, twice every day, stop the administration when it took effect. 45 cases of Epidemic hemorrhagic conjunctivitis were treated, 41 cases were cured within 3 days, 4 within 5~7 days.

Mixture of commensurate Da Qing Ye, vitamin C and lidocaine injections was injected subconjunctivally, 0.9ml every time, once daily or every other day. 45 eyes of 39 cases of herpes simplex keratitis were treated, the drug liquor was absorbed completely within around 4 hours. 41 eyes of 35 cases were cured after 10 treatments. The other 4 eyes were ineffective because of the interrupted treatment.
