Fructus Liquidambaris taiwaniae is the dried ripe infructescenes of Liquidambar taiwaniani Hance (Fam. Hamaelidaceae). The durg is collected in winter when the fruit is ripe, removed from foreign matter, and dried.

| Effect on hookworm larva |
External application of 60% alcohol solution of Liquidambar taiwaniani could prevent the invasion of hookworm larva into the skin of mice, and its efficacy was dosage dependent.

| bi syndrome |
wu shao she, ji xue teng, lao guan cao, 30g each; lu lu tong, wei ling xian, shen jin cao, 15g each; modify the formula according to accompanied symptoms. 1 dose every day, water decoction. 40 cases of bi syndrome were treated, 17 cured, 16 improved, and 7 ineffective. |
| Traumatic arthritis of the ankle |
tou gu cao 30g; hong hua, shen jin cao, 15g each; lu lu tong, niu xi, su mu, xiang fu, dang gui, chuan xiong, 10g each; water decoction for foot washing and soaking. 2~3 times every day, 7 times as a course of treatment.21 cases were treated, and all were effective. |
| Raynauds disease |
chuan shan jia, lu lu tong, 6~15g each; huang qi, tai zi shen, 15~60g each; xian mao, xian ling pi, 15~30g each; gui zhi, gan jiang, 6~20g each; dang gui, gou qi, 10~20g each, ji xue teng, dan shen, 10~30g each; gan cao 6~12g. Modify the formula according to accompanied symptoms, 1 dose every day, water decoction. wang bu liu xing, pao shan jia, 12g each; lu lu tong, lou lu, chuan xiong, tian hua fen, mai dong, 9g each; si gua luo 15g. Modify the formula according to accompanied symptoms. The herbs were decocted together with a organ-removed cock. Drink the soup and eat the cock when it's done. 120 cases of lack of lactation were treated, 106 were markedly effective, 12 effective and 2 ineffective. |
| Uterine fibroid |
lu lu tong, tao ren, chuan xiong, san leng, e zhu, chuan shan jia, mu tong, chen pi, zhi shi, kun bu, mu li, 15g each; zhe chong 12g. Modify the formula according to accompanied symtpms. Water decoction to 100ml for 2 hours' retention enema, once every day, 30 times as a course of treatment. Oral administration on the base of TCM differentiation was also applied. 54 cases of uterine fibroid were treated, and 30 cases' fibroid disappeared, 10 cases had shrunken fibroid by over 50%. Averagely, 78 times of retention enema were applied. |

lu lu tong, lu feng fang, xin yi hua, cang er zi, bai zhi, huang qin, hong hua, dan shen, chuan xiong, shi chang pu, 10g each; jin yin hua, dong gua ren, 15g each; bo he 6h (decocted later); yi yi ren, 20g. 1 dose every day, water decoction for 2 times, taken after meals. 7 dose as a course of treatment. 89 cases of sinusitis were cured, 37 were markedly effective, 40 improved, and 12 ineffective. |

lu lu tong, jiao zhi zi, sang ye, 10g each; bai ju hua, fang feng, 6g each; bai zhi, bai zhu, dan pi, zhi gan cao, 5g each; che qian zi, gou teng, 12g each; ze xie 25g; dai zhe shi 15g; dan shen 20g.
