Concha Ostea is the shell of Ostrea gigas Thunberg, Ostrea talienwhanensis Crosse or Ostrea rivularis Gould (Fam. Osteridae). The drug is collected all the year round, removed from soft part, washed clean, and dried in the sun.

mu li is indicated in the treatment of tuberculosis, duodenal ulcer, chronic ulcerative colonitis, acute renal failure, hyperthyroidism, simple endemic goiter, thyroid adenoma, and hyperplasia of mammary glands, etc..

Tuberculosis

Kang Lao San (mu li, wu gong, dong chong xia cao, zi he che, ling zhi and dan shen, etc.) and San Wei Tang (tao ren, sang leng, xia ku cao) were combined and modified to treat 2139 cases of tuberculosis. 1926 cases were cured, 148 effective and 65 ineffective.

Duodenal ulcer

duan mu li, sheng long gu, 30g each, water decoction, 1 dose every day, 10~20 days as a course of treatment. 20 cases of duodenal ulcer were treated, and 6 were cured, 5 markedly effective, 6 imporoved and 3 ineffective.

Chronic ulcerative colonitis

sheng mu li (decocted first), dang long gu (decocted first), chi shi zhi (decocted first), sheng pu huang 10g each; xian he cao, dan shen, bai jiang cao, 15g each; ru xiang, mo yao, 6g each. 1 dose every day, water decoction for retention enema. Bu Zhong Yi Qi Wan or Fu Zi Li Zhong Wan was combined according to TCM differentiation. 15 days as a course of treatment. 62 cases were treated for 1~5 courses, 46 were cured, 14 improved and 2 ineffective.

Acute renal failure

da huang 35g; mu li, huang qi, tao ren, 25g; dan shen 20g. Modify the formula according to accompanied symptoms. 1 dose every day, water decoction for retention enema. Among 8 treated cases of acute renal failure, 2 were cured, 5 markedly effective and 1 improved.

Hyperthyroidsim

15 cases were treated with tai zi shen, mu li, 30g each; sheng di, zhe bei, dan shen, pao shan jia, 12g each; xuan shen, mai dong, hu huang lian, 10g each; fu ling, xia ku cao, 15g each; gan cao 3g. Modify the formula according to accompanied symptoms. After 1~2 months' treatment, 6 cases were cured short-termedly, 2 effective, 3 ineffective.

Simple endemic goiter and thyroid adenoma

sheng mu li 30g; hai zao, kun bu, 20~30g each; xia ku cao 20g; mu xiang 5g; jie geng 6~20g; xuan shen, san leng, 15g each; zhe bei mu, e zhu, 10g each; pao shan jia 6~9g. 1 dose every other day 5~25 dosese totally. 97 cases of simple endemic goiter and 32 cases of thyroid adenoma were treated, and 64, 20 were cured respectively, 17, 6 markedly effective, 7, 2 effective and 9, 4 ineffective.

Hyperplasia of mammary glands

bai shao 12g' yan hu 20g; sheng mu li, mai ya, 30g each; chai hu, bai jie zi, qing pi, huang yao zi, wei ling xian, xiang fu, da bei mu, 15g each, gan cao 5g. 171 cases of hyperplasia of mammary glands were cured, and 114 were cured, 39 markedly effective, 16 effective and 2 ineffective.
