Herba Taxilli is the dried stem, with leaf, of Taxillus chinensis (DC.) Danser (Fam. Loranthaceae). The drug is collected in winter and spring, removed from thick stem, cut into sections, and dried or dried after steaming.

sang ji sheng is indicated in the treatment of diseases of the motor system, infertility, miscarriage, arrythmia, coronary heart diseases and SLE, etc..

Effects on the cardiovascular system

Water infusion, ethanol-water infusion and 30% ethanol extract of sang ji sheng could lower the blood pressure of anaesthetized animals. Sang Ji Sheng Injection dilate the coronary vessels of normal isolated hearts or isolated hearts with fibrillation of guinea pigs; obviously increase the blood flow in coronary vessesl and lower the heart rate.

Sedative effect

sang ji sheng hadcertain sedative effect on central nervous system.

Diuretic effect

Intravenous injection of avicullarin 0.5mg/kg~2mg/kg to anaesthetized dogs had diuretic effect to different degrees.

Anti-pathogenic microorganism effect

10% sang ji sheng decoction or infusion had obvious inhibitory effect on poliomyelitis virus and other intestinal viruses in vitro. sang ji sheng could inhibit the growth of typhoid bacillus and staphylococcus.

bi syndrome

qiang huo, du huo, 12g each; sang ji sheng, chuan jiao, 24~30g; gui zhi 10~12g, niu xi 18~24g; yi yi ren 15~18g. Modify the formula according different western diagnosis to treat 137 cases of Cold bi syndrome. 82 cases were cyredm 36 improved and 19 ineffective.

Osteoarthritis

sang ji sheng, shu di, du zhong, 15g each; fu ling, dang gui, 12g each; bai shao, gou ji, niu xi, 20g each; fang feng, du huo, chuan xiong, gan cao, lu jiao jiao, 6g each; xi xin, 3g; wei ling xian, yin yang huo, 18g each. Modify the formula according to TCM patterns, 1 dose day. External application of paste made from chuan wu, cao wu, ru xiang, mo yao, etc.. was combined. 96 cases of osteoarthritis were treated, 43 were cured, 20 improved and 2 ineffective.

Prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc

sang ji sheng 24g; du huo, du zhong, niu xi, fu li, 15g each; qin jiao, quan xie, 10g each; fang feng, gui xin, dang gui, chuan xiong, 9g each; xi xin, 6g; sheng di 18g; bai shao 30g; wu gong 3 pieces. Modify the formula according to TCM patterns. 1 dose daily, water decoction. 30 cases of prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc were treated, 14 were markedly effective, 10 effective and 6 ineffective.

Multiple neuritis

shu di, shan yao, sang ji sheng, xu duan, 20g each; shan yu rou, tu si zi, gou qi, niu xi, du zhong, wei ling xian, qin jiao, dang gui, 15g each; chuan xiong 10g. Modify the formula according to TCM patterns. 56 cases of multiple neuritis were treated and 21 cases also received acupuncture and moxibustion therapy. All cases were cured after 18~38 days treatment.

Infertility due to fallopian tube obstruction

sang ji sheng, xu duan, dang gui, chi shao, hai shan yao, niu xi, si gua luo, chuan shan jia pian. Modify the formula according to TCM patterns, 1 dose daily, 1 month as a course of treatment. 30 cases of infertility due to fallopian tube obstruction were treated, 13 cases got pregnant and 6 got a smooth tube.

Postpartum body onload="highlight();" pain

huang qi, dang gui, chuan niu xi, 30g each;; wu shao she 30g; sang ji sheng 18g; fang feng, xu duan, 15g each; zhi chuan wu, gan cao 6g. Modify the formula according to accomapanied symptoms. 1 dose daily. 25 cases of postpartum body onload="highlight();" pain were treated and all were cured.

Threatened miscarriage

sang ji sheng, xu duan, dang shen, 15g each; tu si zi, e jiao, chao huang qin, chao bai zhu, chen pi, 10g each; zhi huang qi, 15~30g; zhi gan cao 4g. Modify the formula according to TCM patterns. Among 109 treated cases of threatened miscarriage, 101 were cured and 8 ineffective.

Arrhythmia

sang ji sheng, yin yang huo, fu ling, wu jia pi, han lian cao, che qian cao, yin chen, etc.. 1 dose day, 60 days as a course of treatment. 148 cases of arrhythmia were cured, and the symptom effective rate was over 90%; EKG effective rate was 77%.

Angina pectoris due to coronary heart disease

Sang Ji Sheng Granule 1 sachet (equal to 39g crude drug), being takin in two times daily for 4~6 weeks. 54 cases of angina pectoris due to coronary heart disease were treated, 13 cases were markedly effective, 29 improved.

SLE

sheng di, shu di, shan yao, he shou wu, nu zhen zi, han lian cao, 30g each; sang ji sheng, bai shao, shang jia, xia jia, qin jiao, mai dong, yi yi ren, jin yin hua, 15g each; gan cao 10g. 1 dose daily. 50 cases of SLE were treated, 7 cured, 39 improved and 4 ineffective.
