Radix & Stemma Actinidia arguta is the root of Actinidia arguta (Sieb.te Zucc) Planch or Actinidia chinensis Planch. (Fam. Actinidiaceae). The drug is collected in autumn and dried in the sun.

Anti-tumor effect |
Intraperitoneal administration of ethanol extract of teng li gen to mice had inhibitory effect on sarcoma S-180 and cervical carcinoma V-14. It had an inhibitory rate of 30~40% on mouse sarcoma S-180.

Lung cancer |
teng li gen, tie shu ye, xia ku cao, ban zhi lian, 30g each; bai bu, yu xing cao, shu yang quan, 15g each. 1 dose every day, water decoction being taken in three times. It could relieve symptoms like stuffy chest and hemoptysis. |
Cancer of maxillary antrum |
teng li gen 60g (120g for fresh one) stewed with meat, one month consecutively. It could relieve swelling, pain and nasal discharge and reduce the lump. Radiotherapy should be combined. |
Carcinoma of esophagus |
teng li gen, dan shen, zi cao, bai hua she she cao, 30g each; ma qian zi 0.3g; bi hu, jiang ban xia, gan cao, 6g each; gan chan pi, ji xing zi, 12g each; ye pu tao gen, ban zhi lian 60g. 1 dose every day. Symptoms would basically disappear with smooth swallowing. |
Stomach cancer |
Fresh teng li gen 100g; shui yang mei gen 90g; she pu tao gen, ban zhi lian, 30g each; bai mao gen, feng wei cao, ban bian lian, 15g each. 1 dose every day, water decoction being taken in three times. |
Carcinoma of colon |
teng li gen 60g; shan dou gen, bai mao gen, 30g each; huai er 24g; zao xiu 15g; guan zhong, xiang fu, 12g each; bi ma ren (smashed) 6g. All the drugs were made into powder and decocted with water. Take the medicine in the morning and evening. |
Liver Cancer |
teng li gen (being decocted first 60g; ma bian cao, dan shen, zi shen, xia ku cao, tian hu lou, she guo cao, ban bian lian, ban zhi lian, she mei (being decocted first), 30g each; ye ju hua (being decocted later) 15g; xu chang qing, zao xiu (made into powder and taken with water), 12g each. 1 dose every day, water decoction being taken in two times. Take the medicine for consecutive 3~6 months and the survival time could be lengthened. |
Breast cancer |
teng li gen, ye pu tao gen, 30g each; ba jiao jin pan, sheng nan xing, 3g each. 1 dose every day, water decoction, for 2 consecutive months. |
Leukaemia |
teng li gen, pu gong ying, sheng di, ban zhi lian, 30g each; jin yin hua, shi gao, 24g each; xuan shen, dang gui, ban lan gen, 12g each; ku shen 9g; mai dong, tian dong 6g each. 1 dose every day, water decoction being taken in three times. Radiotherapy should be combined. |
Swelling due to Wind Damp |
Fresh teng li gen 60g; mu fang ji 15g; hu zhang, hong cao 9g. Water decoction. |
