Tuber Semiaquilegia is the dried root tuber of Semiaquilegia adoxoides (DC.) Makino (Fam. Ranunculaceae). The drug is collected in early summer, washed clean, dried and removed from rootlet.

Anti-bacterial effect

The whole herb of tian kui had inhibitory effect on staphylococcus aureus, hemolytic streptococcus, bacillus pyocyaneus, typhoid bacillus and bacilius diphtheriae, etc..

Infantile upper respiratory tract infections

100% Tian Kui Zi Injection 2~4ml for intramuscular injection, 1~2 times daily. 96 cases of infantile upper respiratory tract injections were treated, 84 cured, 5 improved and 7 ineffective.

Carbuncles

tian kui zi of proper amount was washed clean, smashed and mixed with honey to make into paste. The affected area of carbuncles were applied with this paste. 5 cases of carbuncles with 4~8 diameter's affected area were treated, and cured ater 5~13 days' treatment.
