Miscellaneous effects

Water decoction alcohol precipitation of wu ling zhi could lower whole blood viscosity under high shear, improve erythrocyte deformability, increase erythrocyte electrophoresis and inhibit the platelet aggregation. wu ling zhi could inhibit the growth of tubercle bacillus. Its water infustion had inhibitory effect on various fungi to different degrees. Animal experiments showed that it could relieve the spasm of smooth muscles.

Primary dysmenorrhea

Tong Jing Tang: wu ling zhi, pu huang, dang gui 15g; yi mu cao, yuan hu, 20g each; e zhu 10g; ma huang 3g; pao jiang 5g. Modify the formula according to accompanied symptoms. 33 cases of primary dysmenorrhea were treated, 26 were cured, 4 markedly effective, 2 improved and 1 ineffective.

Infertility due to endometriosis

Formula used during menstrual period: wu ling zhi, pu huang, chuan lian zi, bai zhi, mo yao, xiang fu, qian cao, 10g each; yuan hu 12g; xi xin, mu xiang, 6g each; san qi powder 3g. 35 cases of infertility due to endometriosis were treated with combination of this formula and another formula used in non-menstrual period, 14 cases got pregnant.

Chronic bronchitis

Dang Shen Wu Ling Zhi Mixture (experimential formula): dang shen, wu ling zhi, sheng jiang, cang zhu, 20g each, water decoction to 200ml juice. 3 times daily, 10~20ml, for 1~3 months. 93% of 32 treated cases were effective.

Allergic purpura

wu ling zhi 25g, pu huang 25g, tao ren 15g, hong hua 15g, dan shen 20g, qian cao 15g, xiang fu 15g, da zao 15 pieces. 12 cases of allergic purpura were treated, and the purpura disappeared within one week in all cases. 11 cases had no recurrence in the following half year.
