Radix Cynanchi paniculati is the dried root and rhizome of Cynanchum paniculatum (Bge.) Kitag. (Fam. Asclepiadaceae). The drug is collected in autumn, removed from foreign matter, and dried in the shade.

Miscellaneous effect

xu chang qing had analgesic, sedative, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-oxidant effects. It could lower the body onload="highlight();" temperature, relieve the ischemic state of the cardiac muscle. xu chang qing could antagonize arteriosclerosis. It also had anti-cancer effect and could relieve the spasm of intestinal canals.

Rheumatic arthritis

221 Arthritis Injection (xu chang qing 2.6g with dang gui, hong hua, zhi fu zi and yan hu suo) was used to treat acute rheumatic arthritis, 1~2 for acupoint injection, or 2~4 for intramuscular injection, once daily. 84 cases were treated and the total effective rate was 86%.

Acute lumbar sprain and strain of lumbar muscles

Paeonol Injection 20mg was used to treat 17 cases of acute lumbar sprain and strain of lumbar muscles, etc., 1~2 times daily, 10 consecutive days as a course of treatment. The therapeutic effect was significant.

Hyperlipemia

Ping Zhi Ning (xu chang qing, wu zhua ling and he shou wu, etc.) was used to treat 100 cases of hyperlipemia. 80 cases had cholesterol reduced by 20mg%. Among 50 cases with high triglyceride, 35 cases had triglyceride lowerd by 20mg%.

Bechet's syndrome

Xu Chang Qing Injection (each 2ml containing 2g xu chang qing and 2g jin que gen) for intramuscular injection, 2ml, bid, for 3 weeks. 1 case was treated and cured.

Chronic otitis media

Xu Chang Qing Injection (each 2 ml containing 4g crude drug), 4ml each time. It's used for acupoint injection on the opposite Jian Yu point, 3 times each week, 10 times as a course of treatment. 68 cases of chronic otitis media were treated and the effective rate of one course was 91.2%.

Allergic rhinitis

xu chang qing 15g, cang er zi, xin yi, bai zhi, bo he, water decoction. 20 cases of allergic rhinitis were treated with the method, the total curative rate was 85%, improving rate was 15%.

Psoriasis

Xu Chang Qing Injection 2~4ml (each ml containing 0.5g paeonol), bid, for intramuscular injection. 20 cases of psoriasis were treated and 15 were basically cured.

Malaria

xu chang qing with root 9~12g for adults, or fresh one 30~36g, water decoction. Take the juice 2~4 hours before the attack of malaria, 122 cases were observed and 88.5% cases were effective.
