Fructus Alpiniae oxyphyllae is the dried ripe fruit of Alpinia oxyphylla Miq. (Fam. Zingiberaceae). The drug is collected in summer and autumn when the fruit turns from green to red, dried in the sun or at a low temperature.

The herb is indicated in the treatment of gastritis, peptic ulcer, chylous urine, seminal emission, and prostatic hyperplasia, etc..

The chemical constituents of the herb include yakuchinone A volatile oil, which mainly contains cineole, terpene and sesquiterpenes, etc..

Various effect

yi zhi ren could significantly increase the contracture of left atrium, and its cardiotonic ingredient was yakuchinone A.

yi zhi ren could also elevate peripheral white blood cells.

Gastritis, peptic ulcer

gao liang jiang 10g, xiang fu 10g, wu yao 10g, dang shen 15g, bai zhu 10g, chen pi 10g, sha ren 6g, dan shen 20g, bai he 20g. With severe acid reflux, add yi zhi ren 15~20g; with severe pain, add wu ling zhi 6~10g, chao pu huang 10g. 1 dose every day, water decoction. The method could be used to treat acute and chronic gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcer.

Chylous urine

yi zhi ren, wu yao, shi chang pu, shi lian zi, 15g each; zhu ling, ze xie, bai zhu, 12g each; gan cao 6g. With fatigue, add ren shen, huang qi, gou qi, qian shi; with dry mouth, yellow tongue fur and difficult urination, add huang bo, zhi zi, hua shi and chi xiao dou; with blood urine, add pu huang tan, ou jie, bai mao gen; with lumbar pain, add gou ji, sang ji sheng. 1 dose every day, 5~10 days as a course of treatment. 125 cases of chylous urine were treated, after 1~3 courses, 113 were cured, 9 improved and 3 ineffective.

Seminal emission, premature ejaculation, frequent urination

yi zhi ren, tu si zi, shan yao, 12g each; wu yao 10g; bi xie 15g; qian shi 12g; jin ying zi 12g; dang gui, bai shao, zhi gan cao 10g each. 1 dose every day, water decoction. The method could be used in patients with seminal emission, premature ejaculation, frequent urination, impotence and prostatic hyperplasia due to Kidney deficiency.
