BAO HE WAN

69 cases of infantile dyspepsia of Food stagnation type were treated mainly with Bao He Wan. For weakness caused by long time diarrhea, combined with bai zhu; for poor appetite after vomiting and diarrhea were checked, combined with ji nei jin, he ye. Results: 61 cases were cured, 5 cases improved, 3 cases ineffective, the total effective rate was 95.65%.

Bao He Wan was used as decoction to treat 25 cases of chronic atrophic gastritis. With qi deficiency, combined with huang qi, tai zi shen, 15g each; of Cold type, added gui zhi, gao liang jiang, 6g each; with Blood stasis, combined with dan shen, tan xian, 10g each; with belching, added dai zhe shi 30g. One dose every day, taken in two times after being decocted, 3 months as a course of treatment. Results: in symptoms improvement, 25 of 34 cases were markedly effective; by gastroscopy, 16 cases markedly effective. 

Bao He Wan was used as decoction to treat 20 cases of acute infection of biliary tract system. Among them, 7 cases are simple cholecystitis, 9 cholecystitis accompanied with gallstones, 4 cholangitis. With violent abdominal pain, add yan hu and zhi qiao; with severe fever, add yin hua, with obvious jaundice, add yin chen, yu jin, with constipation, add da huang or mang xiao. Results: 14 cases markedly effective, 5 improved, 1 ineffective. This formula can also be used to treat acute pancreatitis.

Bao He Wan was used to treat 120 cases of infantile chronic cough (more than 1 week) by Wu. The basic prescription: lai fu zi 5~15g, liao qiao, chen pi 1.5~5g each, shan zha 5~10g. With exterior syndrome, add su ye, xing ren, qian hu; with Spleen deficiency, add dang shen, bai zhu, reduce the dose of lai fu zi; with constipation, add prepared da huang. Every dose was decocted twice, and taken warm in four times. Results: after 2~6 doses, 105 cases were cured, 11 improved, 4 ineffective, the total effective rate was 96.7%.

Modified Bao He Wan was used to treat 96 cases infantile urticaria. Basic formula: shan zha tan, shen qu, lian qiao 5g each, bai fu ling 6g, bai ji li, lai fu zi 4g each, ban xia, chen pi 3g each, chan yi 2g. Modification should be made according to different symptoms. Results: 83 cases were cured, 11 improved, 2 ineffective, the total effective rate was 97.92%.

Bao He Wan was used to treat 110 cases of gastrointestinal disorders after interventional chemotherapy. Treated group and control group were set. Treated group: 110 cases, Bao He Wan was the basic formula. With fatigue and poor appetite, add huang qi, bai zhu; with yellow tongue fur and constipation, add prepared da huang; with thirst, add sha shen, mai dong, shi hu. One dose every day, being administered 3 days before the interventional chemotherapy, 10 doses in succession, along with maxolon 40mg, iv gtt, once every day. Control group: 89 cases, maxolon 40mg iv gtt, once every day, 10 days in succession. Results: in treated group, 105 cases were cured, 5 improved, the effective rate was 100%; The time of symptom relieving and appetite restoring was apparently less than that of control group (P<0.01).
