Liver cough is caused by abnormal rising Liver yang invading the Lung. Qing Gan Xie Fei (experiential formula) was used to treat this kind of cough. Prescription: sang bai pi, di gu pi, gua lou pi, dan pi, 15g each; chai hu 6g, zhi zi, huang qin, bai bu, bei mu, ban xia, dai ge san, pi pa ye, 10g each. For young people, add long dan cao and xia ku cao; for senile hypertension, add mu li, zhen zhu mu; with spasm of coughing, add di long, wu gong; with hemoptysis, add dai zhe shi, hua rui shi, ce bai ye. In treated 78 cases, 73 were effective.
Heart failure complicated with pneumonia was treated with bai shen 10~15g; fu pian 5~10g; mai dong, sang bai pi, yu xing cao, 20~30g each, 1 dose every day. 33 cases were treated, after 1~2 weeks, 28 cases were effective.
Prescription: chen pi 30g, gan cao 6g, 1 dose every day. This formula could be used to treat acute mastitis during the first two days. The medicine would take effect after 2~3 doses.
Chen Pi Ban Xia Yi Qi Tang was used to treat 58 cases of bronchitis and bronchial asthma. Basic formula: chen pi, ban xia, fu ling, huang qin, yi yi ren, 12g each; dang shen, shan yao, 15g each; bai zhu, jie geng, lian zi rou, gan cao, 9 g each; ma huang, ting li zi, 9 g each. With fever, add chai hu, yu xing cao, 12g each; with constipatition, add hou ma ren 6g. 1 dose every day, 7 days as a course of treatment. Results: 23 cases were markedly effective, 29 effective, 6 ineffective. This formula showed significant therapeutic effect in senile patients and patients with Spleen deficiency.
Supplemented Er Chen Tang was used to treat 32 cases of type II diabetes. Prescription: chen pi 6g; ban xia 10g; fu ling, bai zhu, cang zhu 15g each; cao jue ming 24g; dan shen, ge gen, 30g each. 15 days as a course of treatment. Results: 30 cases were effective, 2 ineffective.
Modified Ping Wei San was used to treat 211 cases of superficial gastritis. Prescription: chen pi 10~15g, fa ban xia 6~10g, bai dou kou 5~10g, hou po 3~10g, cang zhu 10~15g, bai zhu 10~15g, mu xiang 6~12g, jiao bing lang 3~12g, ji nei jin 10~15g, gan cao 3~10g. 1 dose every day, 2 weeks as a course of treatment. Results: 109 cases were cured, 67 markedly effective, 29 effective, 5 ineffective. Average treating time was 45 days.
