TAO HE CHENG QI TANG

Tao He Cheng Qi Tang combining huang qi and sheng di was used to treat type 2 diabetes, the total effective rate was 79%, and the curative effect was approximately the same as western medicine, euglucan. But the formula showed better effects than euglucan in bringing down the blood glucose level and improving main clinical symptoms.

Modified Tao He Cheng Qi Tang was used to treat 35 cases of porphyria, and satisfactory therapeutic effects were obtained. The age of the cases ranged from 19 to 46 years, the course of disease from 3 to 58 days. 31 cases were of first onset, 5 of recurrence. 12 cases were accompanied with anemia, hemoglobin under 8g%, reticulocyte above 1.5%; functional test showed that 28 cases were impaired to different extent. 31 cases were of intermittent and acute type, 4 of mixed and acute type. Results: 31 cases were cured, 3 improved, 1 ineffective, the total effective rate was 97.1%. Average treating time was 10.2 days.

Modified Tao He Cheng Qi Tang was used to treat 36 cases of acute necrotic enteritis, 33 cases were cured, 3 died. Prescription: da huang, lian qiao, 10~15g each; chuan po, zhi shi, tao ren, hong hua, mu xiang, bing lang 5~10g each; chi shao 10g; yin hua 15~30g. With intense abdominal pain, add yan hu suo, with distension and fullness in the abdomen, enclose 200g mang xiao into a cloth-pocket uniformly, and apply the pocket on the abdomen; with decreasing blood press.

Supplemented Tao He Cheng Qi Tang was used to treat 300 cases of mental disorders around menstrual period, which included: periodic psychosis, mania, neurosis, menopausal syndrome, involutional depression. Results: 265 cases were effective, making up 88.7%, 93 of the 265 cases were cured, 49 improved; 35 cases were ineffective. The formula showed the best therapeutic effect in treating menopausal syndrome. Compared with 300 cases that hadn’t been treated, the natural remission rate was 19% only.

Supplemented Tao He Cheng Qi Tang was used to treat 47 cases of acute pharyngitis. Prescription: tao ren, gui zhi, gan qi, jie gen, 12g each; mang xiao, she gan 10g each; da huang, pang da hai, sheng gan cao 8g each. Results: all cases were cured after 2~5 doses, average curing time was 2.8 days.

Modified Tao He Cheng Qi Tang was used to treat 15 cases of chyluria. Prescription: tao ren, da huang, cang zhu, 9g each; gui zhi, mang xiao, gan cao, 6g each; chi shao, dan shen, di long 15g each; tian hua fen 18g. With lumbago, add bai shao; with difficult urination, add ze xie, che qian zi; with stabbing pain in the urethra, add sheng di, mu tong; with dry mouth and bitter taste, add ge gen; with fever and headache, add yin hua, lian qiao. 10 days as a course of treatment. Results: 8 cases were cured, 5 markedly effective, 2 effective, 1 ineffective.

Modified Tao He Cheng Qi Tang was used to treat 18 cases of thrombocytopenic purpura. Prescription: tao ren, shui zhi, jiang chan, tu bie, 10g each, xian he cao 30g. With external contracted Wind-Cold, add mua huang, xi xin; with Dampness-Heat, add chai hu, qin jiao, hua shi; with qi deficiency, add dang shen, huang qi, with yang deficiency, add fu pian, gan jiang. Western medicine aglumin and prednisone were also administered. Results: 15 cases were marked effective, 2 effective, 1 ineffective.
