Tong Xie Yao Fang was used as the main formula to treat 60 cases of acute enteritis, and marked effect was obtained. The cure rate was 90%, and the effective rate was 98%. The dosage varied from 1 dose to 3 doses at most. Generally, patients would be cured after 1~2 dose, and no side effects were observed.
Modified Tong Xie Yao Fang was used to treat 35 cases of chronic enteritis. Basic formula: chao bai shao 20~30g, chao bai zhu 15g, chen pi 15g, fang fen 10g. With protracted diarrhea, add sheng ma 6g, with severe abdominal pain, increase the dose of chao bai shao and add mu gua, guang mu xiang 10g each; with fatigue, rolapsing and distension feeling of the anus, add dang shen 10g. Results: 28 cases were cured, 5 improved, 2 ineffective, the total effective rate was 94.7%.
Supplemented Tong Xie Yao Fang was used to treat 20 cases of chronic colonitis. Basic formula: fang feng, bai zhu, chen pi, bai shao, wu mei, mu gua, dang shen, shan yao and shan zha, 1 and a half month as a course of treatment. After the treatment of one course, 14 cases were markedly effective, 4 effective, 2 ineffective, the total effective rate 90%.
Hu used supplemented Tong Xie Yao Fang to treat 35 cases of ulcerative colitis. Basic formula: bai zhu, bai shao, chen pi, fang feng, sheng ma, qin pi and chi shi zhi. 20 days as a course of treatment. Results: 30 cases were markedly effective, 5 effective.
Tong Xie Yao Fang combining Si Shen Wan was used to treat recurrent dysentery. Basic formula: bu gu zhi 10g, wu zhu yu 10g, wei rou dou kou 10g, wu wei zi 5g, chen pi 10g, bai shao 12g, huang lian 5g, mu xiang 10g, gan cao 5g. Markedly effect was obtained.
Ding used Tong Xie Yao Fang with increased dose of bai shao to treat 74 cases of irritable bowel syndrome and got satisfying therapeutic effect. Basic formula: bai shao 30~40g, chen pi, chao bai zhu 10g, fang feng, sheng gan cao 6g. With diarrhea more than 4 times a day, add shi liu pi, wu mei; with constipation, add chao lai fu zi, yu li ren; add abdominal distension, add chao zhi ke; with severe Spleen deficiency, add dang shen, with severe yin-Cold, add gan jiang, wu zhu yu; with Dampness-Heat, add huang lian, fu ling. Results: 54 cases were cured, 13 markedly effective, 7 ineffective, the total effective rate 90.5%. Patients were cured after 15~45 doses, averagely 20~30 doses.
Tong Xie Yao Fang was used to treat 56 cases of infantile convulsion with diarrhea. Basic formula: bai shao 30g, fang feng, bai zhu, chen pi 6g each, bi cheng qie 2g. With convulsion, add long chi 15g, with Spleen deficiency, add dang shen 6g, chao hai shan yao 10g; with Food stagnation, add shen qu, chao mai ya, chao shan zha rou 9 g; with vomiting milk and food, add sha ren 3g; with yang deficiency of the Spleen and Kidney, add pao jiang 3g, rou gui 1g; with yin deficiency, add mu gua 10g, tai zi shen 6g. Results: 46 cases were cured, 8 markedly effective, 2 ineffective, the total effective rate was 96.4%. The average time of treatment was 2.16 days.
