ZHEN GAN XI FENG TANG

45 cases of stroke of flaring up of Liver-yang type were treated with Zhen Gan Xi Feng Tang. Results: 29 cases were cured, 10 effective, 2 ineffective, 4 dead. The total effective rate was 86.67%. Among the 45 cases, 32 were in the acute stage, and 13 cases out of them were markedly effective, 19 effective, the total effective rate was 100%.

Zhen Gan Xi Feng Tang combining Bu Yang Huan Wu Tang was used to treat 45 cases of cerebral thrombosis. Formula: huang qi, dan shen, sheng zhe shi, 30g each; sheng long gu and mu li, 15g each; niu xi 12g, dang gui, chi shao, chuan xiong, di long, tian dong, 9g ach; tao ren, hong hua, 6g each; one dose every day, taken in the morning and night after being decocted in the water. Western medicine Group of 31 cases was also set, it was treated with low molecular dextran, or 5%~10% glucose, mixing in 20ml dan shen injection and energy mixture, iv.gtt, once every day. Other medicine was also applied according to patients’ accompanying symptoms. Results: in TCM group, 26 cases were cured, 37 improved, 8 ineffective, the cure rate was 36.6% and total effective rate 88.7%; in western medicine group, 8 cases were cured, 18 improved, 5 ineffective, the cure rate was 25.8% and total effective rate 83.8%. The result showed that simple TCM had better therapeutic effect on cerebral thrombosis.

70 cases of vascular headache were treated with Zhen Gan Xi Feng Tang, its therapeutic effect was compared with that of western medicine control group of 62 cases. Results: in treated group, 23 cases were cured in clinic near term (headache and accompanying disappeared, rheoencephalogram returned to normal, no recurrence was reported during 6 months’ follow-up survey), 41 effective (headache disappeared or abated markedly, times of onset decreased significantly, rheoencephalogram improved), 6 ineffective, the total effective rate was 91.4%; in control group, 6 were cured in clinic near term, 49 effective, 7 ineffective, the total effective rate was 88.7%. There’s significant difference between two groups (P<0.01).

23 cases of cerebral concussion were treated with modified Zhen Gan Xi Feng Tang. Basic formula: niu xi 50g; sheng long gu, sheng mu li, 60g each; dai zhe shi 30~50g; ban xia, ru xiang, mo yao, chen pi, dang gui, hong hua, shao yao, 15g each; chuan xiong 3~5g; gan cao 10g. Variations: with nausea and vomiting, add shi di, zhu ru; with subcutaneous hematoma, add san qi; with insomnia, palpitation, add suan zao ren, zhen zhu mu. Results, 18 cases were cured, 4 improved, 1 quit the treatment due to unsatisfactory effect.

213 cases of primary hypertension were treated mainly according to TCM differentiation, 115 cases out of them was of hyperactivity of Liver-yang type, and were treated with modified Zhen Gan Xi Feng Tang or Tian Ma Gou Teng Yin. Other types were treated with corresponding formula. Results: 188 cases were markedly effective, 19 effective, 6 ineffective, the total effective rate was 97.18%.
