Indications
*  Sore throat.
*  Swelling and pain in the gums.

Combined action
Clears Heat, removes Toxin, benefits the throat.

Combinations
*  For swollen and painful gums, add Shi Gao/Zhi Mu.
*  Can be added to Sang Ju Yin or Yin Qiao San for flu or common colds with sore throat. 		Dosage
The typical proportion when added to a constitutional formula is 6:1 formula to addition (15 grams in 75- 90 grams of formula). If a stronger effect is desired more can be added. When used alone the dose is three grams twice daily.

Cautions and contraindications
Overdosage of Shan Dou Gen may cause nausea and vomiting. Caution in patients with loose stools due to spleen deficiency.
