Ingredients
Notopterygium incisum (Qiang Huo, notopterygium)
Curcuma longa (Jiang Huang, turmeric)
angelica sinensis (Dang Gui, Chinese angelica)
astragalus membranaceous (Huang Qi, astragalus)
Paeonia rubra (Chi Shao, red peony)
Ledebouriella divaricata (Fang Feng, siler)
Glycyrrhiza uralensis (Gan Cao, liquorice)
Zingiber officinalis (Sheng Jiang, ginger)

Major therapeutic action
Replenishes qi, clears Heat from the tissues, reduces swelling, alleviates pain.

Biomedical action
anti-inflammatory, antifebrile and analgesic effects.

Indications
*  This formula addresses pain, stiffness and swelling in the joints and tissues. 
*  With the appropriate key symptoms, this formula can be used to treat biomedical conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, arthralgia, and bursitis.

*  stiff neck and back
*  intermittent pain in the shoulder and arms
*  joint pain that becomes worse with cold and diminishes with warmth

Cautions and contraindications
Patients with dryness.

Dosage
The typical dose is three grams twice daily, before meals. In severe cases or the early stages of treatment (the first two weeks), a 50-100% increase in dose may be used, then reduced as the treatment takes effect.
