Tao Ren

bitter, sweet, neutral invigorates Blood and eliminates stagnant Blood, moistens the Intestines

Hong Hua

acrid, warm invigorates Blood and eliminates stagnant Blood, promotes menstruation


Major therapeutic action
Invigorates blood and eliminates fixed stabbing pain.

 Dosage
The typical proportion when added to a constitutional formula is 6:1 formula to addition (15 grams in 75- 90 grams of formula). If a stronger effect is desired more can be added. When used alone the dose is three grams 2-3 times daily.

Indications
*  Mild fixed stabbing pain patterns. Can be added to a variety of formulas if there is a minor degree of this pain apparent or suspected.

Cautions and contraindications
None noted.
Contraindicated during pregnancy.
Combinations
*  With Si Wu Tang for mild fixed stabbing pain patterns, especially dysmenorrhoea or amenorrhoea. (Tao Hong Si Wu Tang).
