Major therapeutic action
Lowers qi, activates Blood, dissolves swelling, alleviates pain, moistens the Intestines, relieves constipation. |
Dosage
The typical proportion when added to a constitutional formula is 6:1 formula to addition (15 grams in 75-
90 grams of formula). If a stronger effect is desired more can be added. When used alone the dose is three
grams twice daily. |
Indications
* Chest pain, abdominal pain or lower abdominal pain due to qi stagnation and Blood stasis.
* Constipation. |
Cautions and contraindications
Xing Ren is not suitable for prolonged cough due to Lung deficiency.
Tao Ren is contraindicated in pregnant women or patients with menorrhagia. |
Combinations
* For pain due to qi stagnation and Blood stasis, add Jin Ling Zi San.
* For constipation, add Da Huang. |
