Du Zhong

sweet, warm tonifies the Liver and the Kidney, 
strengthens the Tendon and Bone, calms foetus

Sang Ji Sheng

bitter, neutral removes Wind-Damp, tonifies the Liver and the Kidney, strengthens the Tendon and Bone, nourishes Blood, calms foetus


Major therapeutic action
Nourishes the Kidney, strengthens the waist, calms foetus.

Dosage
The typical proportion when added to a constitutional formula is 6:1 formula to addition (15 grams in 75- 90 grams of formula). If a stronger effect is desired more can be added. When used alone the dose is three grams twice daily.

Indications
o  Soreness and weakness of the waist and knees.
o  Foetal irritability.

Combinations
o  For Kidney yin deficiency, combine with Liu Wei Di Huang Wan.
o  For Kidney yang deficiency, combine with Xian Ling Pi/Xian Mao.
