Fritillaria cirrhosa & Prunus armeniaca

 

 

Chuan Bei Mu

bitter, sweet, slightly cold transforms Phlegm, relieves cough, dissolves swelling, disperses lumps

Xing Ren

bitter, warm, slightly toxic relieves cough, calms asthma, moistens the Intestines, relieves constipation


Major therapeutic action
Clears Heat, relieves cough, transforms Phlegm, disperses lumps.

Dosage
The typical proportion when added to a constitutional formula is 6:1 formula to addition (15 grams in 75- 90 grams of formula). If a stronger effect is desired more can be added. When used alone the dose is three grams twice daily.

Indications
o  Prolonged cough without sputum or with sticky sputum.
o  Subcutaneous nodule.
o  Goitre

Cautions and contraindications
Xing Ren is not suitable for prolonged cough due to Lung deficiency.

Combinations
o  Can be added to Xiao Qing Long Tang to relieve cough and asthma.
